The two candidates for the Romanian presidency are elbow to elbow, and in public television, it would be the opposition candidate, Iohannis Klaus, center right, (55 years and mayor of Sibiu) which is in the lead with more than 51% of the vote, according to early projections at the close of polling.
Social Democrat rival Victor Ponta, 42, outgoing Prime Minister would get more than 48% of the vote. Yet he was given in the polls. Romania, the second poorest country of the EU, is now selected a new president, the seventh ballot this kind since the fall of dictator Ceausescu there 25 years.
