The two towers of the Romanian presidential position cost them to two successive Ministers of Foreign Affairs. It has, indeed, been criticized their mismanagement of voting for Romanians living abroad. The insufficient number of polling stations in Turin, Paris, Brussels and Berlin forced diaspora voters queuing for hours. Hence a strong anger.
After the first round, Titus Corlatean had thrown in the towel in the face popular discontent. He was replaced by Teodor Melescanu, which in turn, has resigned, a week after his appointment, the same causes produce the same effects ...
"I regret what happened in the second round of the election, said Melescanu. I apologize to Romanian citizens living abroad and had to wait hours before hoping to slide their ballot. "
Organizational problems in the first round have clearly increased the resentment expatriates vis-à-vis the Prime Minister. Overwhelmingly, they voted against him in the second round. The poll was won by the center-right candidate Klaus Iohannis.
