Elections in Israel: united Arabs to make their voices heard


Israeli elections on March 17 could emerge a new prime minister and a government shift to the center left but could especially book another surprise on the part of Israeli Arabs.


Haneen Zoabi alongside the pasionaria of the Palestinian cause, attacked here during a campaign rally, they are a handful represented in the Israeli parliament and often levied as enemies from within. Haneen Zoabi is MP since 2009 and regularly wipe the wrath of his opponents. Itself does not mince words against Netanyahu, accusing him of apartheid.


And this time, they could make a real difference. Because for the first time, Israeli Arab candidates have decided to join forces in a common list, which could boost the vote of Israeli Arabs on the one hand and change the political landscape of the other


Descendants of Palestinian remained on earth after the creation of Israel in 1948, the Israeli Arabs are 1.4 million, they represent 20% of the population. They are predominantly Muslim.


11 deputies representing them in the outgoing Knesset, and about 120 from different parties.


Traditionally, Israeli Arabs vote less than the rest of the population. 56% turnout in 2012 against 67 for the whole country.


So far, no Arab party has never participated in a coalition government in Israel. According to recent polls, the alliance of the Arab parties could enable them to become the first opposition party.
