India: 30 years after the Bhopal tragedy, the victims are still seeking justice


Hundreds of people marched and burned effigies representing Dow Chemicals to mark the third decade of the deadliest industrial disaster in the world. One night terrible than the 2 to 3 December 1984 when a cloud of toxic gas, escaped from a Union Carbide plant, suffocating the city of Bhopal.


"If the parties responsible for the disaster that continues recognize and accept their roles on the continuing human suffering here if they rectify the shooting then it is possible that the disaster could be completed in the fourth decade," said the founder of Information and Action Group Bhopal.


This accident directly caused the death of 3,500 people. 25,000 also died in the years following the disaster according to several estimates. Children pay the heaviest tribe.


"There was such a feeling, strong, burning in the eyes as smoke, it was as if someone had put red peppers in the eyes. We breathing very difficult. Everything was burning us, hands, feet. Everything. Three decades after the tragedy, the demands of the victims were relayed by a film committed and uncompromising, "A Prayer for Rain" in which particular plays the great American actor Martin Sheen.
