Islam and Islamism crystallize passions in Australia. Several events and cons-demonstrations were held on Saturday across the country. In Melbourne, hundreds of anti-racist activists have clashed violently with anti-Islam protesters. Several people were injured and three protesters were arrested by police who tried to separate the two groups.
"We came to demonstrate for the rights of all to live here," evidenced by a participant.
"They have a problem with these people they do not understand, they are afraid of them, said one woman. But as qu'Australiens we are supposed accommodate everyone. "
In Sydney, hundreds of people braved the bad weather to come and tell their concern about Islam.
At the forum, Shermon Burgess, movement 'Collect Australia ", said:
"Seven Islamists had planned an attack on the Melbourne Cricket Ground on the day of the final. If they had succeeded, there would have been thousands of dead men, women and children. One suspect was living on welfare in Australia for 19 years. "
This event was in fact organized by the movement "Get Australia" which claims to fight against Sharia law, the burka and Halal certification of Australian products. The group ensures not be Islamophobic but opposed to radical Islamism.
