US authorities confirmed the death of Kayla Mueller, the aid worker who was held hostage by the armed group Islamic state. The family of the young woman of 26 years received an authenticated message of El announcing his death. US President Barack Obama has responded in a statement, noting his "great sadness". Without giving details about the circumstances of death, he promised that the US would "find and bring to justice those responsible for terrorist captivity and death of Kayla."
Kayla Mueller was from the State of Arizona. She had been abducted in August 2013 in the city of Aleppo in northern Syria. Jihadist Islamic state had reported the death of the young humanitarian last Friday involving an aviation bombing of the Western coalition on an Islamist position on the outskirts of the city of Raqa.
