Cuba: an American embargo in 1962

Cuban Revolution fiasco landing in the Bay of Pigs, diplomatic relations between Washington and Havana: it is in this context that the United States imposed an embargo to Cuba in February 1962, the US presidency John Fitzgerald Kennedy. An economic and trade embargo as the two countries are separated by only 150 miles from Florida Straits.

In this struggle between the two nations, the USSR entered full scene, creating an extremely tense situation illustrated in October 1962 by the crisis of the Soviet missiles installed on the Cuban island.

The UN General Assembly has for more than twenty times condemned the US embargo, stressing in particular that was declared at a time when the majority of the current Cuban population was not born.
