It has been 5 years since the plane carrying former Polish President Lech Kaczynski, his wife and 94 passengers crashed Smolesnsk Russia. Ceremonies are held on Friday in Warsaw.
On 10 April 2010, the tupolev that crashed had to go to Katyn ceremonies marking the 70th anniversary of the massacre of thousands of Polish officers prisoners of the Red Army by Soviet secret police during World War II.
The investigation into the crash is still not over and the wreckage of the plane is still in Smolensk. Russia refuses to return to Poland, despite the insistence of Warsaw.
On Thursday, Russian investigators reported that Russian air traffic controllers are not responsible for the crash. According to the Russian Investigative Committee, the crash is due to several factors, including inadequate decision pilot to land in thick fog.
A transcript of the exchanges in the cockpit, as Polish media reported this week, seems to substantiate this story. In Poland, however, of conspiracy theories still circulating, especially in the ranks of the Conservative Party of twin brother of late President Kaczynski Jaroslw.
