The Temple Mount was the scene of violent clashes on Wednesday morning in East Jerusalem. The Israeli security forces entered the shrine to disperse Palestinian demonstrators. According to police, they were masked and hurled stones and firecrackers. They then found refuge inside the Al Aqsa Mosque.
The incidents are spread out in the Old City of Jerusalem. Police fired stun grenades and tear gas. The fear of a new intifada then resurfaced as the voltage is increasing in East Jerusalem in recent weeks.
Access to the plaza were blocked. Jewish extremists had called to make massively on the plaza Wednesday to show support for Yehuda Glick. This figure of the Jewish ultranationalist right was shot and critically wounded last week by a Palestinian. His alleged attacker, a Palestinian Islamic Jihad presented by as one of its members was killed the next day by Israeli police.
