This is a composite image of two photos taken by one of the 10 instruments of the robot, the Shiva which consists of seven miniaturized cameras. This afternoon at the press conference of the ESA to 14h, the full panorama of the landing area Philae will be made public.
The chek up the little robot is still ongoing, but eight of its 10 instruments work after 10 years in space ... a feat in itself.
And good news, Philae receives energy, solar panels work. Certainly, the anchor Philae on the comet would not work as expected, there would have been one or two rebounds but it would be stable now. And the radio link with the mother ship, the Rosetta probe, works.
However, if the stowage fonctionnnent harpoons do not, it will be difficult to consider conducting a drill to collect soil samples from the comet.
Since yesterday morning, the pressure is only slightly down again at the European Space Operations Centre of ESA in Germany, DLR Cologne at CNES in Toulouse and to the UPS in Rome.
