Fall of the Berlin Wall: German MPs launch celebrations


German MPs kicked off the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The leaders of various groups in the Bundestag are mounted to the podium to talk about their personal memories of the league. "It was not a miracle or a natural phenomenon," testified the President of the Assembly, Norbert Lammert, "but it was the result of a peaceful revolution ever seen in the history of Germany which is passed from one to another peak at a breakneck pace. "


The East German singer and former dissident Wolf Biermann, was among the guests. Some two million visitors are expected in the German capital this weekend. Friday night, a chain of 8,000 balloons light draw the route of the former wall about fifteen kilometers. They will be released into the sky Sunday night, November 9, the opening day of the Wall.
