Roses placed in the remains of the wall and lit candles from the German Chancellor Angela Merkel. It was time to meditation this morning in Berlin, where the authorities have paid tribute to East Germans killed trying to escape the communist regime in the former GDR.
25 years to the day after the fall of the Wall, the ruling also participated in an ecumenical service. It should also inaugurate the new permanent exhibition of the Memorial Wall.
Another highlight of these celebrations dubbed "The courage of freedom": a big party, this afternoon, where classical orchestra, rock stars and former political dissidents had to share scenes and release some of the evening 7000 balloons arranged for 15 km along the route of the former wall.
