The United Kingdom and the Commonwealth pay tribute to their soldiers

Queen Elizabeth II accompanied by several members of the royal family and Prime Minister David Cameron on Sunday filed a wreath of poppies at the foot of the Cenotaph, the memorial to the dead center of London. The Irish Ambassador was also present as a sign of reconciliation between London and Dublin.

This "Remembrance Sunday" is symbolized by this flower, which rejected the fields devastated by war and where numbers of soldiers killed in action.

A century after the start of the Great War and 70 years after D-Day, the ceremony had a special resonance this year.

It was just as Afghanistan, where British troops in Kandahar praised the memory 450 of their comrades killed during their combat mission in the presence of Prince Harry who also served in that country. A mission started in 2001 and will end in a few weeks.
