Peter Kassig, a former soldier converted 26 years in humanitarian aid, was murdered by the organization Islamic state.
In a video posted Sunday, the jihadist group Islamic State claimed its execution by decapitation, the same fate as already booked for the month of August to April hostages: American James Foley and Steven Sotloff and British Alan Henning and David Haines.
Peter Kassig captured in October 2013 in Deir az-Zour in eastern Syria, appeared in a video on October 3. Jihadists then threatened to kill him in retaliation for US airstrikes in Syria and Iraq.
His parents had pleaded for leniency from his captors.
In vain.
In the video this Sunday, the fighters of the ultra-radical organization also claim the murders of at least 18 Syrian soldiers.
