Tax Evasion: the secret agreements Luxembourg unveiled


Luxembourg in the heart of the scandal. 340 multinationals have signed secret agreements with the Grand Duchy to pay less tax. This is what reveals a survey by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) called "Luxembourg Leaks". The ICIJ published thousands of documents, agreements called "tax ruling" that reveal the underside of the Luxembourg tax system vulnerabilities and international regulations. Among the firms involved include Apple, Amazon, Ikea, Verizon, Pepsi or Axa. The case is embarrassane for the new President of the European Commission. For Jean-Claude Juncker Prime Minister of Luxembourg was when the agreements in question were signed, between 2002 and 2010. Billions of euros in tax revenue are lost each year by states where companies are making profits. The tax optimization practices of large companies are long known but this is the first time, we reveal an extent, supporting documentation.
