The governor of the southern province of Japan, Yuichiro Ito, announced this decision booed by the public. He recalled the security guarantees provided by the operating company Kyushu Electric Power, and government. Inaudible for much of the population discourse, still traumatized more than three years after the accident at Fukushima.
Since the disaster, all plants of the archipelago are stopped. Tougher standards were adopted. Sendai reactors should be the first to resume service early next year. For government and business pro-nuclear community, the issue is economic. The slurry reactors in the country is very expensive in the country forced to import oil.
