EU budget: London gets more time to pay its extension

Britain allowed to defer payment of its extension to the EU budget. Finance ministers of the 28 agreed in Brussels yesterday. London will therefore pay twice the extension of 2.1 billion euros in the EU budget. Deadline: July and September 2015, instead of suddenly, on December 1st.

"It was far from inevitable because the bill was halved, deadlines were delayed, no interest will be paid, said David Cameron, the British Prime Minister. We got to change the rules so that it does not happen again, it is very good news. "

The British were asked to pay more,

readjustment of the contribution of their country, decided in view of its economic health. The Netherlands are also called to increase their share.

"I can not confirm the British figures, said Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem. The only thing I know is that the UK has a discount for a very long time, and this discount will also be applied to the new contribution, so it is not as if the British had a discount today ' hui ". London does indeed pay half of the sum that is due to the net increase next year of the "discount" that Britain receives annually from the EU since 1984 and will be paid in advance.
