Egypt soon reopen the esplanade of the Sphinx


In Egypt, the esplanade of the Sphinx will soon be reopened to the public. No date has been set, but on Sunday, the Minister of Antiquities Mamdouh al-Damati went there to see the end of the restoration.


The site that lasted nearly 4 years. It was to replace the cracked blocks in the body of the Sphinx, the neck and the left.


"This is the first time we can access the esplanade of the Sphinx", welcomed Mamdouh al-Damati, who also announced the reopening of the pyramid of Menkaure (the smallest of the three pyramids of Giza ). The building was under construction for nearly 3 years.


The Sphinx and the pyramids of Giza were built there more than 4,500 years.


The site attracts millions of tourists. But attendance dropped significantly after the popular revolution of 2011 and the political tensions that followed.
