[DIRECT] November 11: Centennial Flame

This is not November 11 as the others. First, because it marks the end of the great celebrations of the centenary of the First World War, and also because it has a new feature: the inauguration of a memorial that calls for peace in the world. In addition to the traditional ceremony of the maintenance of the flame of the unknown soldier under the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, President Francois Hollande will be the beginning of the afternoon in the Pas-de-Calais, in northern France. At the scene of the terrible battles of Flanders and Artois, he will honor nearly 580,000 veterans of 1914-1918, whose names are inscribed on the "Ring of Memory", this unique monument that meets in a sort of brotherhood posthumous allies but also the enemies of the Great War, all nationalities. A ceremony will also take place in the heart of the largest national cemetery, that of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette.

You can follow these commemorations LIVE on our website throughout the day
