Between 4 and 9 years in prison for the "Düsseldorf Cell"

Four Islamists arrested in April 2011, were convicted of plotting an attack in Germany for Al Qaeda account.

The court in Dusseldorf sentenced to nine years in prison Abdeladim El-Kebir, a Moroccan 33 years considered the leader of the group. His accomplices were bailed sentences ranging from four to seven years' imprisonment.

"According to the conclusion of the court, preparations for an attack with explosives were quite advanced," says Andreas J. Vitek, spokesman for the Dusseldorf court. "The detonator had already been prepared and it is probably only because of the police investigation that the attack was averted."

The "Düsseldorf Cell" had plans to detonate a bomb in a crowd and then a second to help arrives.

Information of US intelligence had allowed the arrest potential terrorists.
