Visiting Cairo, Putin has a Kalashnikov Egyptian President


Vladimir Putin on Tuesday concludes a two-day visit to Egypt with the aim to increase the influence of Russia in the most populous Arab country.


Western criticism on democratic decline of Egypt's President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, and the involvement of Russia in the Ukrainian crisis, promote reconciliation between Cairo and Moscow.


This is the first state visit of the Russian president in Egypt for ten years, and the two countries are particularly strengthen their economic ties.


The two leaders spent Monday evening at the opera before dinner in a skyscraper in Cairo.


For the occasion, al-Sissi president offered the head of the Kremlin a goldsmith plate, while Putin had brought as a gift a Kalashnikov AK-47 recalled the discussions on possible Russian arms deliveries to Egypt.
