Child soldiers: 89 teenagers kidnapped in South Sudan

In the town of Wau Shilluk, 89 boys seemed older than 12 years were kidnapped by armed men. According to the statement of the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF), the actual number of teenagers abducted "could be much higher." Since the beginning of the civil war there 14 months 12,000 children, mostly boys, are enrolled in the South Sudanese army as among the rebel forces. The conflict began in December 2013 when fighting broke out in the South Sudanese army, plagued by political and ethnic divisions sharpened by the rivalry at the head of the regime between President Salva Kiir and his former vice president Riek Machar, of different ethnicity. Since then, the war continues despite numerous cease-fire agreements and ongoing peace talks in the capital of Ethiopia.
