Trial of the murderer of the true "American Sniper" jury selection

Jury selection entered its final phase on Monday in Texas, the final stage before the opening Wednesday of the trial of the alleged murderer Chris Kyle, the most formidable sniper of the US military. In the dock: Ray Routh, 27, an Iraq veteran who suffered from post-traumatic stress and Chris Kyle was trying to help.

It was on a shooting range that Ray Routh opened fire on Chris Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield, killing them both February 2, 2013. He had confessed his crime to his sister with whom he had fled just after the fact. It had immediately notified the police. His lawyer has plead insanity.

His trial comes as the Clint Eastwood movie, "American Sniper", an adaptation of the autobiography of Chris Kyle, is named in six categories at the Oscars.

Tribute to the heroes of the war in Iraq for some, advocating violence to others, the film divides America. The defense is concerned that the film does not influence the jury. An argument rejected by the court.
