The leader of the Islamist group Abubakar Shekau stated in a video posted yesterday. Scheduled for February 14 presidential and parliamentary elections were postponed six weeks to March 28 because of the attacks of Boko Haram in the north-east and logistical difficulties. The announcement of Boko Haram came as more than forty people were killed yesterday throughout Nigeria in heavy fighting and several attacks, mainly in the north-east region under constant threat of Islamists. In Niger, unpublished rallies against Boko Haram were held yesterday to denounce Islamists and promise them that their country would be "grave."
