Pakistan: 19 dead in an attack against a Shiite mosque in Peshawar

In Pakistan, gunmen attacked a Shiite mosque in Peshawar, killing at least 19 people dead and fifty wounded. According to witnesses, one of the terrorists blew himself up, while others threw grenades and shot the faithful who gathered en masse for Friday prayers. The police now have the situation under control, after clashes that would have lasted about an hour.

This attack reminds one that had covered it two weeks ago a Shiite mosque in Shikarpur, southern Pakistan. It could be the work of Sunni extremists close to the Taliban and Al Qaeda.
