New protests against the price of gasoline in Haiti


It is now almost a usual scene in Haiti demonstrations against the price of gasoline and against President Martelly. The demonstrators, mainly students this time, threaten to disrupt the carnival which starts tomorrow, if the price of gas does not drop.

Police used tear gas to disperse the crowd in Port-au-Prince, the capital.

Events such as this one, and strikes follow one another.

Haiti is in deep

political crisis since the resignation in December the head of government andthe dissolution of parliament, which is incapable of organizing étaitmontré

municipal and legislative elections

for three years.
