General strike and growls in southern Tunisia


Shops, schools and hospitals closed. A general strike paralyzed on Tuesday a large part of southern Tunisia, bordering Libya. A strike after clashes between police and protesters Sunday killed one person. The violence caused by the seizure of contraband gasoline.


Unions regions of Tataouine and Medenine that have called the strike, demanding an investigation into the use of force by police during demonstrations. An appeal they deem excessive.
