Egypt: Mohamed Fahmy soon be free, journalist Peter Greste testifies

"It's like a rebirth, we realize that all these little beautiful moments in life are really valuable."

The release of the Egyptian-Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy is "imminent". This is what afforded by head of Canadian diplomacy without giving further details.

Mohamed Fahmy was the bureau chief of the Qatar-based news channel Al-Jazeera in Cairo. With colleagues, Australian Peter Greste, and the Egyptian Mohamed Baher, they were arrested in late 2013 and sentenced in June to 7 and 10 years in prison for "spreading false information" and "support to the terrorist organization "the Muslim Brotherhood.

After 400 days spent behind bars, Peter Greste was released and deported on Sunday by the Egyptian authorities. He gave an interview to his channel, Al-Jazeera, before returning to Australia:

"_I Can not tell you how relieved I am to have been released, I was not expecting it at all. We thought we still spend months and months in jail awaiting a retrial and to be apart like that, today, without notice, it's just amazing.

It's like a rebirth, we realize that every little beautiful moments in life are really valuable, like spending time with my family sûr_ well ... "

It is by virtue of a recent law allowing Egyptian presidential decree on the expulsion of foreigners sentenced to prison terms or awaiting trial Peter Greste has been released.
