It was his first official visit to Germany since his election. Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko took the opportunity to thank the German chancellor for his support.
Berlin will give 500 million euros to Ukraine, intended especially for economic reforms. Equipment will also be provided to a Ukrainian military hospital, soldiers are already treated in Dresden, Germany.
Another question: sanctions against Russia. Petro Poroshenko expects much of the EU summit this weekend in Brussels hopes that sanctions will be strengthened if the Minsk agreements are not fully respected.
