First ministerial meeting of China, Japan and South Korea for 3 years


South Korean President Park Geun-hye has received the foreign ministers of the three countries. This is the first formal talks since April 2012.


Objective: To calm the local rivalries and disputes that complicate diplomatic relations between Beijing-Seoul with Japan


"We are in the stages of a process to improve our relationships. The Sino-Japanese relationship has gained positive momentum, but we are still far from a full recovery. Both parties must do more to reach that full recovery and develop healthy bilateral relations, "said Chinese Vice Foreign Minister.


Two files weigh particularly. The visit in 2013 the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to the Yasukuni shrine in Tokyo which honors 2.5 million dead soldiers for Japan. A place considered by China and South Korea as a symbol of past Japanese militarism.


Another pitfall, violent dispute between Tokyo and Beijing about the Senkaku / Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea.


The Secretary General of the UN, Ban Ki-moon urged the three countries to have a "dynamic" dialogue. Washington also called South Korea and Japan, its two main military allies in Asia overcame a "strategic liability".
