Ukraine: Europeans and Americans differ on the delivery of arms

The conflict in Ukraine is the central issue of the annual security conference in Munich, a meeting where politicians and experts discuss the current crisis and ways to end it.

On Ukraine, the burning question is the possible delivery of weapons to the loyalist forces. The United States suggested that they were considering this possibility while the majority of European countries are opposed.

Our special envoy Ian Bremmer interviewed, founder of the consulting firm Eurasia Group political risk on the way to try to resolve the conflict: "The only way you will convince the Russians lead in the best case, a cold war, is not the signing of a comprehensive agreement with the Ukrainians, but a mixture pressure and encouragement, "he says. "And I think that diplomacy is the only possible and provide defensive weapons will not save Ukraine. And there is no one, neither John McCain nor any American falcon is actively prepared to do what it takes to Ukraine, and if this is your reality, and you must be prepared to accept and to admit to your friends, not your allies, Ukrainians "he says.

The argument of Europeans opposed to the delivery of weapons is that this could put oil on the fire.

The commander of NATO, US General Philip Breedlove, believes instead that the military option should not be ruled out.
