Serbia and Croatia wound closure?

If it is an undeniable fact about the war in former Yugoslavia is that, 20 years later, the wounds are not healed and bitterness is still alive.

On the left, a village of Serb refugees expelled from Krajina at the time, to the right the cemetery of Vukovar. Vukovar martyr city during the war, became the symbol of the "suicide of the Yugoslav nation." The seat of the Serbian army will last 3 months and the city will be destroyed, will be committed atrocities such as the massacre of more than 200 patients in the hospital. One of the bloodiest episodes of the war and traumatic independence of Croatia, the Croatian forces that oppose the JNA supported by some Serb from Croatia, from 1991 to 1995.

The balance will be heavy. More than 12 000 deaths, and tens of thousands displaced.

In their offensive, the Serb will win many territorially Croatia which this border region of Bosnia. Here, before the conflict, a majority of Serbs living there, she proclaims himself in 1991 RSK Knin and made it his capital. Croats had vowed to return. This is what they do in 1995.

On 4 August, a massive operation dubbed "Operation Storm" is launched. In less than four days, the area is under control of the Croatian forces. The official death toll is 324 dead. And between 100 and 200,000 Serb civilians driven into exile. An exodus planifé by President Tudjman and his generals.

The verdict of the International Court of Justice does help to calm tensions between the two countries? Relationships were reheated lately, but the verdict was perhaps the opportunity to leave once and for all the past behind.
