Fragile peace process in Ukraine

The violence continued Friday in the breakaway regions despite the signing of a peace agreement, expected to come into force in less than two days. At least eight Ukrainian soldiers and three civilians were killed in 24 hours, according to the army. Intense fighting are still going to Debaltseve, where the forces of Kiev are almost virtually encircled by the rebels. According to several analysts, pro-Russian would do anything to seize this strategic railway junction before the official end of the fighting.

The agreement reached yesterday in Minsk, after sixteen hours of discussion, provides for a cease-fire from Saturday midnight and then a gradual withdrawal of fighters and heavy weapons, as well as the establishment of an extended buffer zone along the front line. An agreement on the '' essential '' which remains fragile. Several questions remain.
