Australia is still trying to save two of life of its citizens sentenced to death in Indonesia for drug trafficking. Imprisoned for nearly ten years in Bali, they could be executed shortly in a maximum security prison. The Indonesian authorities, who rejected their request for clemency, agreed this week to delay their transfer so they can spend more time with their families.
Hopes now rest on the ultimate legal remedies, as indicated by the Australian Consul in Bali, which refers to a possible procedural error in rejecting the request for clemency. Aged thirty years, Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran are accused of having led a network of heroin traffickers between Bali and Australia.
In Australia, precisely, support rallies to two convicts were held in several cities, including Melbourne. Other foreigners, including a French could be shot soon in Indonesia, for similar offenses.
