The Iraqi army and Shiite militias continue moving towards Tikrit

In Iraq, the offensive against the Islamic State jihadi group continues especially around Tikrit. to dislodge the Islamists of the region located a hundred kilometers north of Baghdad.

The Iraqi army is supported by Shiite militias, armed and advised by Iran.

"This area is particularly strategic, says the Iraqi Interior Minister Mohammed al-Ghabban. If we manage to regain control of the area, then our enemy will no longer be stocked. And since the beginning of our offensive, we have achieved success relatively quickly. "

The ground offensive is supported by air strikes by the coalition, led by the United States.

Washington said it had launched on Saturday a dozen raids against jihadist positions in Iraq, including near Mosul, Fallujah and Kirkuk.
