Show Latvians who fought alongside the SS in Riga

The annual march commemorates March 16, 1944 when the Latvian Legion under Nazi leadership had fought in Belarus in the Red Army. A lost battle which led to the occupation of Latvia by the Soviet Union for nearly half a century.

A parade that takes the climate of fear about the role of Russia in the Ukrainian conflict.

"I had never seen so many policemen. But I'm glad they are well dressed, we see that the state cares about us. Our enemy is afraid because we're not afraid, "said the woman who took part in the march.

Like every year, this gathering was condemned by Moscow and by Jewish organizations who denounced "a glorification of Nazism."

Forty people saying "anti-fascists" expressed after the parade, "disinfectant" using brushes Monument to Freedom according to our colleagues from the AFP on site.
