"I have the feeling that my Pontificate will be brief. Four or five years. I do not know. Or two or three."
There are two years, Argentine Jorge Mario Bergoglio became the 265th Pope of the History of the Catholic Church. On this occasion, François gave an interview to the Mexican channel Televisa. He mentioned in particular his future at the Vatican. At 78, the Pope thinks that his reign will not last very long.
"I have the feeling that my Pontificate will be brief. Four or five years. I do not know. Or two or three. Two years have passed. This is a somewhat vague feeling that I have, that the Lord chose me for a brief mission. But it is only a feeling. ''
A short reign for Francis ... The faithful interviewed on the Place Saint-Pierre prefer not to hear: '' I do not think he will die soon, '' said the woman. 'The Pope Francis will live twenty years because it is healthy,' 'added the man who is at his side. '' And because it is good. ''
"It is very popular, and it's important. I hope that the next pope will continue its action, '' says the Dutch tourist.
In the interview, the pope did not specify, however, whether he considers one day to resign, as did his predecessor, Benedict XVI. Finally, he says have a simple desire: to get out of the Vatican without being recognized and eat pizza.
