Egypt: death penalty applied to the guide of the Muslim Brotherhood

The courts sentenced to death 22 managers and executives of the brotherhood classified as a terrorist organization since 2013 by the authorities. Among them, their supreme guide, Mohamed Badie according to local media.

They were sentenced to death for "planning the use of force against the state." As required by law, the judgment was submitted for opinion to the Grand Mufti of Egypt, but it is not binding for justice.

A total of 51 people, including 31 in custody, continued in this case according to AFP.

Since the former army chief and current President al-Sissi ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013, the authorities launched a bloody crackdown against his supporters. At least 1,400 were killed.

Power is accused of exploiting justice in its repression.

March 7, Egypt hanged for the first time, a supporter of the deposed Islamist president. He was convicted of violence in Alexandria in the north.

Former President Mohamed Morsi, from the Muslim Brotherhood, he incurs the death penalty in at least four cases.
