Departmental elections in France

This is a test vote to determine the status of forces, more than half of the mandate of François Hollande and in the context of the next presidential election in 2017.

Polling stations opened this morning for the first round except in Paris and Lyon, cities governed by a particular status.

At noon, 18.02% of voters voted according to the Ministry of the Interior more than in 2011 when the rate was 15.70%.

Other data expected, a high score for Marine Le Pen National Front who relies on this election to continue its advance after the European and municipal in 2014.

Again at the head of the UMP, the former head of state, Nicolas Sarkozy hopes to capitalize on a blue wave and then ride the regional year-end before the presidential cap 2017.

Frown on the other hand for the Socialist government. François Hollande and Manuel Valls largely anticipated a big reflux with the loss of dozens of departments.

What can reshuffle the cards? Response from this evening and especially after the second round on 29 March.
