Israeli raids on Syria

Syria accuses Israel of conducted two raids against the regime held areas near Damascus, denouncing a "direct support" to rebels and jihadists.

Damascus residents said they heard loud explosions and opposition activists have circulated on the internet pictures of fighter aircraft in the sky of the Syrian capital. A video whose authenticity could not be verified.

The high command of the Syrian army has reported damage but there would be no victims.

The Israeli government had no comment. The army and the Israeli air force carried out several attacks against military positions since the beginning of the revolt against the Syrian regime in March 2011.

The latest Israeli air strike took place in March and targeted military positions in the Qouneitra region, near the Israeli-occupied Golan in 1967.
