Francis Pope condemns violence against children


A compact crowd gathered in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican to hear the traditional Christmas message urbi et orbi of the Bishop of Rome. The Argentine pope particularly touched massacres in Syria and Iraq, and denounced the indifference to the persecution of the children.


"My thoughts are with children who are abused or killed today" he has said, "the children that the hunt and persecute wars ... To the children abused and exploited in our own eyes and with our silent complicity. "


In his message, Pope Francis has also condemned the violence in the Middle East, and called for peace in Ukraine and on the African continent.

The head of the Roman Church, denouncing the practice of abortion, also deplored "the children killed before seeing the light."
