Death of Fabiola, former Queen of the Belgians

"Belgium loses tonight a great queen who radiates the image of our country throughout the world."

Belgium is in mourning. The former Queen Fabiola is off this Friday in Brussels, she was 86 years old. This very Catholic queen had marked the spirits from around the world in 1993. At the funeral of her husband King Baldwin, she appeared dressed all in white, a sign of hope and resurrection. She then became a legend as the "White Queen".

Discrete her life, she always avoided the spotlight and never gave interviews.

Yet it is still very popular in Belgium, where the political class pays tribute to "a great queen." The Belgians have discovered the first time in September 1960 with the announcement of her engagement to Baldwin.

State funerals should be organized at the end of next week.
