Thailand: Yingluck Shinawatra banned from politics for 5 years


The former Prime Minister of Thailand is banned from politics for five years. The decision was made Friday by the National Assembly. Yingluck Shinawatra was forced to resign in May.


Meanwhile, the prosecutor announced that the ex-head of government would be prosecuted for corruption in a case concerning the rice sector. Justice accused of having made sure that the government buys rice up to 50% above the market price. She faces up to 10 years in prison. Yingluck Shinawatra has always maintained his innocence.
