Sidereal a long trip included hibernation, to go to the meeting of the comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Rosetta has reached its destination in 2014. An important step in the knowledge of our solar system.
On 2 March 2004, the European Ariane 5 rocket took off from Kourou in French Guiana, with on board Rosetta. Direction comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko, colloquially known as the comet Tchoury
The beginning of a very long journey. To achieve its objective, Rosetta has to travel 6.5 billion kilometers.
After 31 months of hibernation, the probe of the European Space Agency to wake up. January 20, 2014. In the center of ESA in Darmstadt, is joy.
On 6 August 2014, Rosetta is to rendezvous with the comet. The European probe scans the target. Its objective is to locate a landing zone, a place called Agilka, the name of an island on the Nile, Egypt.
Just over three months later, the little robot laboratory is dropped Philae on the comet. Its descent to Tchoury last 7 hours. Philae is where nobody has gone before. The never-seen!
