Dozens of people were killed Tuesday in the north-east of India in the five attacks attributed to the National Democratic Front of Bodoland.
According to several witnesses, the insurgents forced villagers to leave their homes before executing them. Women and children were among the victims. At least sixty-three people were killed and over eighty injured. The killings took place in Assam, where indigenous Bodo tribes are simmering conflict with Muslim settlers and Adivasi community.
The government has observed a minute of silence for the victims, whose numbers constantly increase. The Deputy Minister of the Interior, Kiren Rijijiu, speaks of a tragedy. "This is a tragic event that we can not take lightly," he said. "We need the confidence of the local population is restored and to ensure that this type of incident does not happen again. "
During the cabinet meeting, a demonstration was held in New Delhi to protest against the carnage; that bloody north-eastern India for thirty years and who have been ten thousand victims. Protests also in Assam where members of the Adivasi community, which has a large number of victims, blocked the railway line.
