The political crisis in Haiti continues to concern the United Nations. A delegation of Security Council ambassadors is Port-au-Prince for a two-day visit, in order to ACCELERATE the holding of legislative and senatorial elections, expected in three years. Consequence of this impasse, the country has more than Parliament, that mandate has come to an end. And President Martelly is increasingly criticized.
"The Council expressed to President Martelly and his ministers the same disappointment that probably feels the Haitian people, says the UN the US ambassador. Because efforts to reach a consensus could not prevent the departure of Parliament. ''
For several weeks, anti-Martelly demonstrations multiplied in Port-au-Prince. To appease the anger, the president appointed a new government, led by opposition figure. He also promised to hold elections by the end of the year. Yet another electoral council was formed in the hope of achieving this goal.
