Palestine's membership application to the ICC presented to the UN

The Palestinian representative to the UN on Friday sent the application for membership to the International Criminal Court.

This document was by the head of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas.

This request must now be considered by the Secretary General of the United Nations, which has two months to inform the member states of the ICC to the Palestinian request.

A membership to the Hague tribunal is supposed to allow Palestinians to prosecute Israeli leaders to international justice. The ICC's mission is to prosecute perpetrators of genocide, crimes against humanity or war crimes.
