A suicide attack was committed on Tuesday afternoon in Istanbul. A female suicide bomber blew himself up when entering a police station in the tourist district of Sultanahmet.
A policeman was killed, he died in hospital. A second policeman was wounded.
The attack took place shortly after 17h. The woman spoke in English when entering the station. She said she had lost her wallet. We still know nothing of his nationality, identity or motivations.
This attack is not unlike that of 1 January. A gunman belonging to a movement of Turkish extreme left was then attacked police on guard outside the Imperial Palace, Dolmabahçe, also in Istanbul, throwing two hand grenades that had not exploded.
The individual was immediately arrested and his actions claimed by the party / Revolutionary People's Liberation Front (DHKP -C).
