Iraq Army Day on war bottom against the organization Islamic State


The Iraqi defense minister paid tribute to fallen soldiers to defend the homeland during a wreath-laying ceremony at the monument of the Unknown Soldier in Baghdad. A ceremony dating from the time Saddam Hussein, but retained by the authorities who succeeded him.


The Iraqi defense minister said he hoped "the end of the rationalization and organizational resources of the army as soon as possible."


Meanwhile, at least 23 members of the Iraqi forces were killed in two suicide attacks and clashes with jihadists in the province of Anbar in western Iraq.


A symbol for the country struggles with sectarian violence and against a new enemy. The organization Islamic State which established since last year a "caliphate" on pieces of Iraqi territory and also in Syria.


Fighting raged between jihadists and Iraqi troops and Kurdish military strikes supported by an international coalition led by the United States.
