Boko Haram puts his threats and exports its violence beyond the borders of Nigeria. The radical Islamist group has launched a major offensive on Monday against a military base in Kolofata, in the north of neighboring Cameroon. This offensive, which has killed 143 people in the ranks of the Islamists as the Cameroonian government, comes as Boko Haram spreads death and destruction for several days in Baga, in north-eastern Nigeria. Several hundred people were reportedly killed there and tens of thousands more are on the run.
"The attacks in the city of Baga, in the state of Borno, 3 and 7 January has displaced about 150 000 people. These are estimates of the Emergency Agency Borno because access independently to the area is not possible at the moment. It is therefore necessary that these figures are audited by the United Nations, "responded Jens Laerke, spokesman for the Office for Coordination of Humanitarian matter of the UN.
The abuses attributed to Boko Haram has intensified in recent months. The group will stop at nothing, as on Saturday in Maiduguri, where it is a girl of ten years alone, which was sent to blow himself up in a crowded market.
Unable to cope, the Nigerian military has called this weekend the international community for help.
